IBLF seeking part-time S. Asia regional manager

Purpose of the role: To act as IBLF representative primarily in India and in due course the South Asia region, to expand IBLF relationships and activities in the region by the recruitment, engagement and retention of Indian corporate partners, and initiating/developing a range of programmes relevant to sustainable business and development.

Accountability: To IBLF Director responsible for South Asia (based in the UK)

Location: Delhi

Responsibilities: Below is an overview of the kind of things the role would cover but we’re open to negotiation depending on the seniority of the candidate
• Building our relationships with a range of Indian companies who join IBLF and the regional International Advisory Group (target = 20 companies by 2011)
• Connecting and building relationships with international IBLF companies operating in India – and engaging them in programmes and projects
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key non-corporate partners (Business Community Foundation, which was initiated 12 years ago in collaboration with IBLF and now functions as an Indian-registered and wholly autonomous NGO), FICCI and CII, BIMTECH
• Initiating/developing (typically in partnership arrangements) a range of IBLF programmes (both new and those adapted from having been pilot tested in other regions) – these will include projects on employability, transparency, sustainable tourism, migration, water issues and others
• Supporting IBLF’s leading edge partnership development work in the region
• Providing a source of knowledge and information for IBLF central office and colleagues about the specific nature of responsible business and development challenges from a South Asia perspective
• Carrying day-to-day responsibility for IBLF’s key stakeholder relationships in India, including multi-laterals, bi-laterals, foundations and major NGO organizations in the country
• Creating and maintaining a greater sense of visibility for IBLF in the region – including with government networks
• Be an active part of IBLF’s regional hub (coordinated by IBLF’s Director, Marketing & Business Development), linking to colleagues in other regions (Russia / FSU, SE Asia and Americas) and UK based colleagues with responsibility for other regions (Africa, Europe, Middle East)
• Maintain a close working relationship to IBLF’s CEO – coordinating visits and contacts with key corporates in the region, on his behalf

Competencies (skills, experience and characteristics)
• Senior professional with experience of working with or in business and gravitas for representing an organization
• Energy and enthusiasm for finding creative solutions with commitment to responsible business practice and to promoting the role of business in social, environmental and economic development
• Strong interest in/experience of key sustainable development issues eg environment, entrepreneurship/employment, transparency, education, health
• Excellent written and presentation skills with ability to articulate IBLF’s vision in a compelling and persuasive way and engage effectively with senior level contacts in all sectors
• Experience in facilitating, partnership management, resource procurement, communications an advantage
• Strong financial management and fundraising experience working with high level individual, corporate and foundation donors
• A high level of professional and personal integrity and commitment to ethical practices;
• An entrepreneurial nature; ability to work under own supervision with multiple priorities;
• Masters Degree or equivalent in International Development, Business or Public Affairs or related subject
• Proficient in English and Hindi, both written and verbal
• Willing to travel around India/South Asia region and beyond region when necessary.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT
Since this is a new position, the appointment will be made for 6 months in the first instance with the potential for expansion and extension of the role (with a review after 4 months).
