Christine, I loved the op-ed! I recently finished business school, and I have a number of friends who have an interest in the social sector, but who don't intend to make a career in it. When we assume that they won't contribute to the social sector until they start donating and joining boads, I think we're underutilizing them, plus denying them the opportunity to exercise that part of themselves now. I'd love to see some formal training or outreach to help interested people in the for-profit sector see how they can contribute to social sector goals through their day-to-day jobs - I think it could be really good for their companies and for them as individuals, as well as for the larger world.
