B Lab is the non-profit organization which certifies and supports B Corporations. B Corporations are a new type of corporation that uses the power of business to create public benefit. B Corporations meet high performance and legal standards and build collective voice through the power of the unifying B Corporation brand. As of January 2010, there are over 250 Certified B Corporations from over 50 industries representing over $1 billion revenues.

Position Purpose:
Recruit companies to become Certified B Corporations

Position Functions:
Grow the community of B Corporations from 250 to 500 B Corporations and the marketplace from $1 billion to $3 billion in the next 24 months by:
- managing B Lab’s BusDev team in SF, SEA, PHL, NY, NC including internal staff and outside consultants with geographic and industry responsibilities by:
- developing team strategy and goals
- running bi-weekly team meetings
- developing and accessing tools, resources, materials to meet team goals
- directly recruiting high priority larger companies to become Certified B Corps by
- engaging existing B Corps as Champions to help recruit their peers
- engaging B Lab’s partners to open and/or close key prospects
- communicating benefits of becoming a B Corp to prospects and assisting them through process of learning about and becoming a B Corp
- working with B Lab’s Services team to leverage partnerships with sustainable business associations, (i.e SVN, USGBC, Clean Tech Open, BALLE, Green America, Investor Circle, etc)
- developing strategy for and attending/presenting at industry conferences and events

Qualifications:
- Passion for using business to solve social and environmental problems
- High energy, self-managing, entrepreneurial personality capable of working in start-up environment with few resources
- Strong relationship-building, communications, and organizational skills
- 10+ years in direct sales, team management and managing external relationships
- Experience in clean tech/energy and green building industries a plus
- Facility with Salesforce.com; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or Mac equiv

Compensation: $80-$120k depending upon experience, plus benefits

Position Summary:

The Manager will be a key member of the Corporate Social Responsibility function responsible for overseeing global program development, contributing to strategy development, ensuring pull through of CSR policies across the organization, maintaining a strong SR network and providing support to Hess’ global business units including Exploration and Production, Marketing and Refining and our Corporate functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Day to day project management of social investment programs globally. Support development of new programs as needed at corporate and business unit levels
  • Support business units in implementing social investment strategy. Monitor program progress.
  • Help develop and monitor annual Social Investment budget and track expenditures.
  • Contribute to sustainability reporting and other communications vehicles as needed
  • Ensure effective roll out of revised social responsibility and related policies and standards. Develop related training program and materials for workforce including contractors.
  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategy in concert with corporate departments and business units
  • Represent Hess with external stakeholders and at industry and professional associations
  • Create and maintain an SR network of practioners across the company

Education/Certifications:

Experience/Competencies:
  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years of total business experience, including specific experience in Corporate Social Responsibility for a Fortune Corporation, not-for-profit program management as well as extractive industry experience
  • Developing country work experience preferred
  • Able to bring new ideas and perspective to existing practices and processes.
  • Self-starter who works proactively and is able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to completion.
  • Excels in oral and written communication.
  • Excellent judgment
