Manager, Faculty Networks
Position Summary: We’re looking for an effective, thoughtful, project manager with 5+ years of experience to run networks of faculty and business leaders in the US and abroad. The successful candidate will be passionate about changing the world and able to “speak the language” of both academia and business.
The mission of the Aspen Institute is to foster enlightened leadership and open-minded dialogue. Aspen Institute programs have attracted presidents, statesmen, diplomats, judges, ambassadors, and Nobel laureates over the years, enriching and enlivening the Institute as a global forum for leaders.
The Aspen Institute Center for Business Education (Aspen CBE, www.AspenCBE.org) seeks to create business leaders for the 21st century who are equipped with the vision and knowledge necessary to integrate corporate profitability with social value. Signature programs include Beyond Grey Pinstripes (an alternative ranking of business schools) and CasePlace.org (an online library of MBA teaching materials). The Center is part of the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program.
Position Description
Faculty Networks are small groups of 10-15 MBA professors and several participants from the corporate and public sectors. Networks exist for 2-3 years of regular in-person meetings and substantial virtual connections. Each network focuses on a particular academic discipline or topical area, all within the theme of social and environmental issues. Recent Networks include Stakeholder Marketing, Teaching Innovation in India, and Corporate Governance and Accountability. For example, see http://tinyurl.com/2hs4cf.
The Manager, Faculty Networks is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of all current and future Faculty Networks. Responsibilities include:
■ Establish and maintain personal relationships with dozens of academics and other participants
■ Manage logistics and program design for in-person and virtual meetings, with some staff support
■ Write follow-up white papers and conduct marketing and outreach activities
■ Support the Aspen CBE team in related fundraising
■ Develop concepts for new Faculty Networks
Aspen CBE expects 3-4 Faculty Networks to run concurrently each year. The Manger, Faculty Networks will report directly to the Director of the Center for Business Education, and work closely with the entire team of the Business and Society Program.
Skills/Experience
■ Bachelors degree required, graduate degree preferred.
■ 5+ years work experience, preferably including experience with mainstream business, academia, or business education.
■ Excellent people skills / Able to cultivate leadership among MBA professors
■ Enthusiasm for, and understanding of, conference/dialogue design
■ Strong writer
■ Detail-oriented
■ Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative environment
■ Comfortable with MS Office
